Surahammars IF

Surahammars IF is a Swedish professional ice hockey club from Surahammar. The club played several years in the highest Swedish league. The previously existing football team of the club played at times second rate and took part in the 1946 promotion round to the Allsvenskan.

History

Surahammars IF was formed on June 4, 1914, when the existing already since 1911 a loose association of sportsmen were a statute. In particular, athletics, football and skiing were initially at the forefront of club events, before later also included cycling and swimming to the program. Since 1993, the association is a pure Hockey Club.

Hockey

The Hockey team developed from the Bandymannschaft of the club. As this 1937 descent into third-class, it was decided to record hockey and was registered by the Svenska Ishockeyförbundet in November of the year. After the team had played first unterklassig, they join in 1948 the first time in the premier league. Here they had no chance and went straight off again. 1952 managed to rise again, this time she stayed for two seasons in the top division. By the end of the decade she staggered between first and second division before it took after re descent to but repeated resurgence until 1969. After re- direct descent again reached the summit, since 1972, the team plays unterklassig. Today, the team plays in the third-tier Division 1

Football

The football team Surahammars IF played first time in 1926 second-rate. In the following years she established herself in their second league season and placed several times in the front table space. In the season 1939/40, it reached as a relay runners-up IFK Norrköping, to date, the best result the club's history, however, had three points off the season winner. Two years later, the team repeated the result, this time pointed IF Elfsborg five points ahead. The success was followed by the crash and after 17 years of League membership of the club grew in the following season together with Avesta AIK from the third league.

The relegated team won its third league season and then sat down in the promotion round against IF and IK City by Vesta. In the second division the team missed almost the only walkover in the Allsvenskan, as runner-up behind Djurgårdens IF were missing four points to season victory. This was achieved in the season 1945/46, the rise in playing a play-off was against Örebro SK after a 3-0 home win and a 0-2 away defeat necessary, however, decided that the competitor itself. Ranking third behind Ludvika FFI and Sandvikens AIK, the club survived in the subsequent season a league reform and reached 1950 behind Örebro SK again to second place. Again followed by a sudden crash, with nine -point score was the club the following season the bottom of the table and was passed two years later in the Viertklassigkeit.

The collapse of Surahammars IF followed by a rapid rise - according to the direct back in the Bundesliga as a relay winner immediately return to the second division. There, the team played against the relegated again, they almost prevented twice. After 96 goals conceded in the season 1957/58 the club rose again from out of the second division and missed again on the third level of play in the league. Succeeded for the season 1964 again briefly to return to the third tier, the club disappeared a short time later from the higher-class football.
