Suramadu Bridge

The Suramadu Bridge ( also Surabaya - Madura Bridge; Indonesian: Jembatan Suramadu ) is the longest bridge in Indonesia. It connects the cities of Surabaya on the island of Java and Bangkalan on the island of Madura. The construction of the 5.4 km long road bridge over the Madura Strait began on 20 August 2003, was opened the only bridge between the two islands on 10 June 2009.

Constructive heart of the toll Suramadu Bridge is a cable-stayed bridge in three segments of 192, 434 and 192 meters in length. It has two lanes in each direction and one lane for emergency vehicles and motorcycles.

The construction costs by an Indonesian- Chinese consortium built bridge was estimated at 4.5 trillion rupiah ( 445 million U.S. dollars).
