Surcasti

Suraua ( [ suʁaʊ̯ɐ̯ ]? / I ) was on 31 December 2012 to a municipality in the district Damphreux in the district Surselva the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland.

On 1 January 2013, it merged with the municipalities Cumbel, cutlasses, Lumbrein, Morissen, Vignogn, Vella and Vrin the new community Lumnezia.

The coat of arms is the result of a competition under the former community youth. It represents the geographical location of the former municipality by the river in the green field (forest and pasture ) and the concentration ( ring ) of the four former municipalities (star ) dar. into a new whole

Geography

The place is located in the Surselva and is for historical reasons from the fractions Camuns, Surcasti, Tersnaus and Uors - Peiden. Camuns is located on the northwestern slope of the Pala because Tgiern ( 2205 m) and consists of the districts Camuns ( 1177 m), Sutscheins ( 1176 m), Masauns ( 1113 m) and Runs ( 1171 m). The southwest lies Uors (932 m). This is the seat of the new municipality. South of Uors is located at the entrance to the valley of Vals Haufendorf Tersnaus (1070 m). All of these parts are located east of the community of Vals Glenner and Rhine. On a terrace between these rivers is Surcasti ( 991 m) on the northern slope of the Wanna Spitz ( 2444 m). The northernmost part of former municipality is the village Peiden ( 934 m) west of the Glenner.

From all over the former municipality of 2420 ha 1206 ha are forested and 408 ha Mountains. 322 of the 705 hectares of agricultural land serve as mountain pastures. The remaining 49 ha settlement area.

Population

From the end of 2004 291 inhabitants were 282 ( = 97 % ) Swiss nationals.

History

The municipality was created on 1 January 2002 from the union of the former municipalities
