Surbo

Surbo is a municipality in the Italian region of Apulia province of Lecce with 14,955 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2012). The city lies at an altitude of 44 meters above sea level on the southeastern tip of Italy. Surbo is an enclave within the city of Lecce. The city of Lecce, the administrative center of the province of Lecce, is located about eight kilometers southeast of Surbo. The name of the city was founded in 1181, when the region came under Norman rule, mentioned for the first time.
