Surface (TV series)
Surface - uncanny depth ( original title: Surface) is an American television series developed by Josh Pate and Jonas Pate, which was produced for the U.S. television network NBC chain and aired from September 2005 to February 2006.
Action
In the world 's oceans appear out of nowhere giant creatures ( giant lizards ). The young marine biologist Dr. Laura Daughtery has during a dive in a submarine, an encounter with these creatures. She decides the thing to get to the bottom, noting the passage of time, that the creatures considerable damage to the biological balance of the world will inflict. At the same time diving in the Gulf of Mexico Rich Connelly and his brother near an oil rig in the ocean to catch fish. They have an encounter with one of the creatures. Rich's brother is shortly away by this creature into the deep, while he himself could not breathe and drives the surface. As is a dead creature washed up on a beach, this is evacuated with the declaration of algal bloom by the government; also each will have a blood sample. Rich and Laura get to know at this point and suggest that the government must have something to do with the creatures, and they join together.
In a dark night driving Miles Barnett, Miles ' friend Phil and another friend with a boat out to sea. Here, Miles falls into the water and is startled by a small creature that he can not recognize correctly. Shortly after, they are arrested by the Coast Guard. The next night, Miles and Phil go back to the place and find a dozen eggs, one of which Miles takes her home and throws it into the aquarium. A few days later it slips a "little lizard", which is called Miles Nimrod, briefly Nim or Nimmy. He develops a deep connection to Nim and tries to keep her existence a secret, but that does not succeed for very long.
In the last few episodes of season two Miles in love with Caitlin, who he met in the aquarium in which he had to serve community service because of some "crime". Only in the last episode "Tsunami " learn Miles and Caitlin Laura and Rich know. The stories are told alternately each of these individuals. Other character are Jessy, Laura's son, which often leaves him with her husband Sean and his new wife. Dr. Aleksander Cirko, who works for the government but is killed when he finds out the origin of the creatures of Davis Lee, a government agent. Miles's parents Sylvia and Ron Barnett, who consider temporarily to send Miles to a military school and Dr. Bloom, head of the aquarium where Miles works and at the same time the father of Caitlin.

Because of the rather mediocre ratings ( with respect to the high cost of production of the first season ) NBC has released no further seasons. Fans of the series tried with the help of petitions NBC to move to a continuation of the series, since due to the uncompleted action left many unanswered questions.
In November 2008 it was announced that the German ProSieben had the U.S. NBC Studio in 2006 offered to produce the series after its preliminary end on, because the rates in Germany were excellent in contrast to the United States.
