Surgical lighting

A surgical light, also known as surgical light, is a lighting device in the operating room for the lighting of the body to be operated on the lying on the operating table the patient. Comparable she is the light of any known dentist.

Requirements

The lighting of surgical areas is standardized according to DIN 5035-3. It is a workplace lighting with artificial light. The shadow-free illumination of the operating field is hampered by the working staff in the light. The shadow cast by this can be offset by other light elements, which is why a modern operating theater lamp consists of a plurality of individually adjustable arms. It is now hung in the rule on the ceiling. It is set optimally, without compromising space and mobility on the ground. A wide range of interventions in different fields requires doing a lot of flexibility, because the lighting be very different and also aligned during surgery may have to be. Therefore, today the handles of the lamps are dressed normally sterile, so that the surgeon can also sterile dressed align them by hand according to his needs.

Because of the shallow angle of incidence of light at 100,000 lux is required for operation lamps, which corresponds to the strength of sunlight. This, however, is released undesirable amount of heat for many bulbs, which surgeons and patients burdened and can dry out the tissue of the surgical area. Surgical lights can affect disruptive by their shape and heat the climate technically scheduled air currents in the operating room. Meanwhile, incandescent and halogen lamps against temperature- neutral LED bulbs are so often substituted.
