Surin Islands

The Co- Surin Islands ( Thai: หมู่ เกาะ สุรินทร์, pronunciation: [ mù ː kɔʔ sùʔrin ] ) are an impressive Thai archipelago in the Andaman Sea, they belong to the Tambon Ko Phra Thong, Amphoe Khura Buri, in the province of Phang Nga.

Geography

The archipelago is about 55 km from the mainland, and consists of five islands, the two inhabited islands of Ko Surin Nuea main ( North Island ) and Ko Surin Tai ( South Island ), and the three smaller islands of Ko Ri, Ko Kai and Ko Klang.

National park

The Mu Ko Surin National Park has an area of ​​141.25 km ². It includes the Surin Islands and surrounding sea it. The protected areas of about 108 km ² or 80 % of the area located in the sea. The park was declared on 9 July 1981 for the 29th national park of Thailand. The Mu Ko Surin is known for its unique underwater world.
