Surp Khach Monastery

The Surb - Chatsch Monastery (Armenian Surb Սուրբ Խաչ վանք Chatsch Wank, ( German: Monastery of the Holy Cross ) is a medieval, founded in 1358 Armenian monastery on the Crimean peninsula in Ukraine, near the town of Stary Krym.

It was a spiritual center of the Armenian Christians and for many centuries a place of pilgrimage.

The Surb - Chatsch - monastery has the same name as the Armenian Cathedral of the Holy Cross on the island lying in the Lake Van Aghtamar in today's Eastern Turkey.

The National Bank of Ukraine gave out commemorative coins in 2009 in honor of the Armenian Surb - Chatsch Monastery. In the monastery there are also numerous ancient Chatschkare.
