History

Foundation

The Surplex.com AG was founded by the brothers Bruno and Florian Schick end of 1999 as a typical start-up companies in the dot-com era. The core idea was the development of an online market place that should facilitate the trading of used machines and make the highly segmented used machine market more transparent.

This business model attracted numerous institutional and private investors. Also prominent private investors such as Schlecker Lars, Lars Windhorst, Marc Schrempp or Fiat President Paolo Fresco boarded at Surplex.

Crisis

With the bursting of the dotcom bubble and the Surplex.com AG fell into a severe crisis. Offices were closed, return its headquarters were transferred from Berlin to Dusseldorf and dismantled most of the approximately 140 jobs. In March 2003, the Management Board chaired by Michael worker was taken, who had come from traditional engineering group Deutz Surplex.

Consolidation

Today Surplex no longer limited to "virtual" business processes, but also provides all the "real" services around the recycling of used machines, such as personal advice, expertise and warehousing. Used machines and production lines are marketed worldwide. In addition, performs Surplex large industrial auctions ( live and online), such as Linde, ABB, ThyssenKrupp and Bayer.
