Susanne Abbuehl

The poetic voice ( born July 30, 1970 in Bern, Canton of Bern ) is a Swiss jazz singer in the European tradition.

As a child she was educated at the harpsichord in Baroque music. At 17 she moved to Los Angeles, where he attended a high school where they received every day music lessons. After she completed her studies at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague (including with Jeanne Lee) with a Masters Degree, she began among others at the music schools in Basel and Lucerne to teach in the main compartment jazz singing. Since then, she spent several times a few months in India, to study with Prabha Atre Indian classical singing.

After a largely unnoticed internationally remaining first CD she released the CD in 2001 April at the ECM label. Since then she has been touring with her band and with other jazz musicians throughout Europe and beyond.

In their work, influences of European folk music and classical music are recognizable. Her artistic identity is characterized by reduction to essential instrumentation and design tool.
