Susanne Alt

Susanne Alt ( born April 15, 1978 in Würzburg ) is a German saxophonist and composer.

Biography

Susanne Alt was born in Würzburg in 1978 as a child of two musicians and music teachers. In 1996 she won the Siemens Jazz Award and the same year she moved to the Netherlands to study at the Conservatory of Hilversum (later Conservatorium van Amsterdam) Jazz saxophone. After graduating, she continued her studies at the Berlin University and has worked as a freelance artist in Amsterdam since 2003. They played, among others since 1998 with: Rosa King, Soulcatchers, BuJazzO and was a member of the Amsterdam Jazz Orchestra. They also toured with Fred Wesley & the new JB's and works worldwide with House DJs and Producers together as: Hardsoul Productions, Piglife, Roog, Ronald Molendijk, Marc van Dale and Erick E and jazz DJ's such as DJ Maestro, Wicked Jazz sounds and Graham B.

Susanne Alt Quartet

The " Susanne Alt Quartet " consists of:

  • Susanne Alt (D): alto and soprano saxophone,
  • Thijs Cuppen (NL): piano,
  • Sven Schuster ( D): Double bass,
  • Philippe Lemm ( NL): Drums

On October 11, 2004, they presented in Amsterdam, their debut album " Nocturne".

The quartet has received several award winners and finalists from competitions such as the Leipzig Jazz Festival or the young Dutch Jazz Competition and was awarded Jazz Prices in Leiden and Breda.
