Susanthika Jayasinghe

Susanthika Jayasinghe ( born December 17, 1975 in Atnawala in Colombo) is a former Sri Lankan athlete.

Career

Jayasinghe won her first international medal in 1994 (Silver) at the Asian Games in Hiroshima in the 200 -meter run. At the World Athletics Championships 1997 in Athens, she reached over this distance also the silver medal at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney the bronze medal behind the US-American Marion Jones and Pauline Davis - Thompson of the Bahamas.

After the Asian Games in 2002, where they won the gold medal in the 100 -meter run, she withdrew due to lack of support of their own association in the Asian sports events and emigrated to the United States. At the World Athletics Championships 2007 in Osaka Jayasinghe won the bronze medal in the 200 -meter run, and at the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 she reached the semi-finals on the same distance.

She is 1.65 m tall and weighed to competition times of 62 kg. In early 2009, she ended her career.
