Suzanne Osten

Suzanne East ( pronunciation: [ ˌ san sɵ ː ː ɔs tən ], born June 20, 1944 in Stockholm ) is a Swedish stage and film director, professor and honorary doctor.

East has long been a leading figure of the Swedish children's theater. She founded in 1975 the section Unga Klara at the Stockholm City Theatre and has long been the cultural leader. Under the influence of Alice Miller, a successful child psychologist and primary therapist, East wrote many plays for children. Since 1995, East is a professor at the Dramatic Institute in Stockholm.

Since the 1970s, the East is politically active. Together with Margareta Gaupe she wrote the piece in 1971 Tjejesnack (about: women gossip ) had the teenage girls as a target group. Some songs from the play, as the feminist fight song Vi masts Höja våra roaster ( We must raise our voices ), were later incorporated into the music album Sånger för kvinnor ( Songs for Women ). Other common plants of East and Gaupe were Kärleksföreställningen (1973 ), Jösses flickor (1974) and Fabriksflickorna (1980). All had a strong connection to socialist feminist organization Grupp 8

Just like the plays most movies are from the East have political content. In Skyddsängeln ( The Guardian Angel ) it attacks the problem of political terrorism. In Tala! Det är så mörkt ( Sprich! It's so dark ) it describes the sprout of neo-Nazism in the 1980s and 1990s. As causes, it represents the rising unemployment and the lack of moral roots with today's youth

East so far last and ninth film, Wellkåmm to Verona, in 2005 was released in theaters.
