Suzanne Shepherd
Suzanne Shepherd is an American actress, director and drama teacher. A wider audience, it is in their roles as Karen's domineering mother in the movie Goodfellas - Three decades in the Mafia and known as Carmela Sopranos mother in the television series The Sopranos.
Shepherd studied acting with Sanford Meisner. She was in the early 1960s, alongside other actors such as Alan Alda Alan Arkin and a founding member of Cabaret Revue Compass Players. Shepherd has worked for a long time at the theater, both as an actress and as a director. She is known for her interpretations of the plays of Athol Fugard.
