Suzanne (Somme)

Suzanne ( Picard: Suzène ) is a northern French village with 181 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) by the Somme in the Picardie region. The municipality is part of the Canton of Bray- sur -Somme, and since January 1, 2013 part of the Communauté de communes du Pays du Coquelicot ( previously it was owned by community association to ).

Geography

Situated on the right bank of the meandering here and enhanced by ponds Somme community is located approximately four kilometers east of Bray- sur- Somme. It extends north to the department of road D938.

History

In the municipality remains were found from prehistoric times and Merovingian burials. The castle near the Somme in 1619 built by the family Valpergue the site of an old fort. It later belonged to the Estourmel family and in the 20th century humorist Yves Lecoq.

1636 Suzanne was burned by Spanish troops in 1870 by Prussian troops.

During the First World War, the castle was taken from the French General Staff in fitting.

The municipality received the Croix de guerre as a distinction from 1914 to 1918.
