SV Bergisch Gladbach 09

The SV Bergisch Gladbach 09 eV is a sports club based in Bergisch Gladbach. It was created in 1973 from a merger and today consists of one each division for football, youth football and badminton.

History

Mergers

The origin was placed in 1909 by the FC 09 Bergisch Gladbach. This merged on 22 January 1919, the TSV Zanders Bergisch Gladbach to SV Bergisch Gladbach 09. 1969 joined the then District league team SF Paffrath together with BW hand and the SSV Katterbach for SSG Bergisch Gladbach. SSG 09 and SV Bergisch Gladbach then joined together in 1973 to SSG 09 Bergisch Gladbach. Since the summer of 2007, the association was only called Bergisch Gladbach 09, however, existed under the statutes nor the abbreviation SSG. In April 2008, a further name change was decided that the club is now called SV Bergisch Gladbach 09 eV

Men's Football Division

The greatest success of the men's football department is winning the Amateur Championship in 1953 with a 3-2 win over the Homberger SV. In the 50s, the SV 09 played in the second division (2nd Oberliga West ) and reached in the season 1950/51 to third place. 1954 it was in the quarter-finals of the DFB Cup against VfB Stuttgart. After a 1-1 aet in the first game, the replay with 0:6 was lost.

In 2012, in the relegation against the SG Wattenscheid succeeded in 09 of the promotion to the Regionalliga, from which one but it descended again in the year.

Women's Soccer Division

Statistics

Stadium

The first team carries out their home games in the stadium on the Paffrather street which bears the name Belkaw arena.
