SV Concordia Königsberg

The SV Concordia Königsberg was a football club from the East Prussian capital Königsberg. Highlight of the club's history was the two- year membership of the Gauliga East Prussia, the 1933-1945 top division in Germany.

History

1911-1933

Among the many teams in the East Prussian Hanse city played in 1911 under the name " Concordia " (Latin for " concord " ) based club no prominent role and was at best mediocre. Only in youth football the antretenden in their green and black uniforms Concorden could convince at district championships in East Prussia.

Football in East Germany was compared to the other associations in the German Empire to play football weak regions, teams from East Prussia were far -reaching rarely take notice. Even under these weak competition, Concordia Königsberg could not highlight.

Concordia played for the first time ten years after its foundation in a first division of the county league Königsberg. The second place behind series champions VfB Königsberg was also the best placement. However, these " major league " consisted of only seven teams from Königsberg and Ponarth, even where two teams of Prussia Sambia Königsberg had to compete. Significantly, Concordia had as a runner more goals conceded than scored himself.

In the following season Concordia was third, but 1923/24, we wound up a the eighth and last place with it. It was not until 1930 that a major league was now District League Königsberg, managed to return to the top flight. The debut season in the district league ended with the 4th place in a six competitors, and Concordia secured five points clear in the league.

1931/32 the League was held only in a round robin. Concordia was only able to record a victory against the Konigsberg STV and went otherwise than losers from the square. Only in a relegation round with the KSTV and the two circular class representatives of Police SV Königsberg and RSV Brown Mountain was assured by remaining in the district league.

Once recorded, the green - black in the season 1932/33, 4th place, but were by the introduction of Gauliga East Prussia again second-rate.

1933-1945

Concordia struck with changeable success in the district around class and got 1935 on the Gauliga. The major league in East Prussia, however, was split into four seasons, so that in principle again ruled the states of the period before 1933.

After two fourth places in 1937 and 1938 Concordia Königsberg finally disappeared in the lower leagues after the Gauliga East Prussia was held for the season 1938/39, again in a relay. The Concorden missing in their league season eight points, to take part in the qualifying matches for Gauliga at least can.

In Tschammer Cup remained Concordia Königsberg already in the regional play-off on the track. Only in the Tschammerpokal 1943 reached the team from Roßgarten the semi-finals in East Prussia, but succumbed to the overpowering VfB Königsberg 00:10.

In August 1944, with the start of the Allied air raids club life in Königsberg to a halt. With the occupation of Königsberg in April 1945 by the Red Army and the subsequent flight and expulsion of the remaining German population, the association ceased to exist.

Concordia Königsberg already played before 1919 on the Duke 's field at the Lithuanians Wall Street. The former parade in Roßgarten district shared with other Concordia football and handball clubs.
