SV Dessau 05

The SV Dessau 05 is a football club based in Dessau in Saxony- Anhalt. The venue of the Association is the sports field Schiller Park, which can accommodate about 5,000 spectators. The league matches of SV Dessau 05, however, were discharged from strategic marketing reasons in the modern Paul Greifzu Stadium Dessau, which has a capacity of 22,000 seats.

History

Prewar

The club was founded in July 1905 as FC Adler 1905 Dessau and called himself after the merger with the football section of the Protestant youth club to St. John's in October of the same year Dessauer FC 1905. According to the merger with Sporting Association BAMAG Dessau on February 22, 1919 called the club from now VfR Dessau in 1905. the name SV Dessau in 1905 received the Club on November 5, 1921, the merger with SpVgg Dessau.

In 1935, the club qualified for the Gauliga, then the highest German league. After a fifth place in the first season the Dessau dominated the league in the following years. 1937, the club were first Gaumeister and qualified for the finals as the German championship. There Dessau was in a group with VfB Stuttgart, Wormatia Worms and the game club 06 Kassel third in the table and thus different from in the first round. Following the successful defense of Gaumeistertitels the Dessau in 1938 took part once again in the finals of the German Championship. In a group with FC Schalke 04, BSV 1892 Berlin and the VfR Mannheim Dessau is again third. On October 16, the sports facilities are inaugurated against Schalke 04 at the Schiller Park for a fundamental redesign with a 4-1 success before 18,000 spectators. 1939 win the Dessau for the third time in a row Gaumeisterschaft and in the championship final table fourth behind Admira Vienna, VfR Mannheim and Stuttgart Kickers. GDR

After the dissolution in 1945 the club was refounded as a blue-white Dessau. In the following years there were numerous name changes. So called the club in 1947 and 1948 Sports Union Dessau Dessau SG -Nord. In 1949, he became the BSG wagon Dessau and from August to BSG wagon factory in Dessau. On February 2, 1950, there came to the last time being renamed BSG Motor Dessau.

In 1949 the community was against BSG Gera Süd first fdgb Cup winners after a 1-0 success in the final in Halle. This also succeeded in qualifying for the 1949 newly established DDR - Oberliga ( as it was known from 1950), where they reached a respectable third place in the first season. On August 1, 1952 Willi Braun was coach of Dessauer and started the team with a winning streak in the league 1952 season / 53rd After 13 days, the game had Dessauer 25:1 points and 42:14 goals in their account and led the table with eight points ahead of Turbine Erfurt. During this winning streak of the eternal spectator record in Dessau was reached. The 2-1 win at home to Chemie Leipzig saw 32,000 spectators. The following season, 1953/54, the Dessau rose under their new coach Walter Fritzsch after five years of league membership. Until 1967 the club played with a few breaks in the second-rate DDR league, but then disappeared from the scene of the East German football. The supremacy in the city took over from then on the ASG Vorwärts Dessau.

After the turn

In 1989, named the club in SG wagon 05 Dessau, before the club its original name SV Dessau back received on April 22, 1995 05. In 2004, the Dessauers reached the summit in the league, but the club was relegated in the year of its centenary again. On the occasion of its 100th anniversary, there was a friendly match between SV Dessau 05 and the German record champion Bayern Munich in 2005, which with 10:1 decided the German record football champion for itself. After descending to the League Association twelve players left the squad, which was mainly filled by players from their own youth. At the end of the 2005/2006 season, the SV Dessau 05 secured direct promotion back to the then fourth- highest division. However, one year later, the club was relegated again in the fifth division.

In March 2009, the SV Dessau 05 applied for the opening of insolvency proceedings. With the end of the Federation League 2008/2009 season the club was relegated to the division of Saxony -Anhalt. The subsequent two seasons joined the SV Dessau 05 from each table in the upper third of the country now siebtklassigen league.
