SV Dynamo
The Sports Club Dynamo (SV Dynamo ) was the Sports Association of the internal security apparatus in East Germany ( People's Police, Ministry for State Security ( Stasi), Customs Administration), and together with other DDR -wide sports associations the backbone of the GDR - performance sport system.
Foundation
On 20 June 1950, established as the governing body for the sport Communities People's Police Sports Association, the German People's Police. Chairman was the then deputy head of the Ministry for State Security ( Stasi) Erich Mielke. On March 27, 1953, the SV DVP were affiliated with the sports teams of the Stasi and introduced the term sports club Dynamo. Later, there were the sports teams of the East German customs administration added. Mielke stayed until resolution of the Sports Association in 1989, its chairman. The SV Dynamo was from 1957 incorporated into the German Gymnastics and Sports Association, but in fact completely independent and was headed by a "central office " within the MfS. A similar organization was the Army Sports Club Forward of the National People's Army.
Sport mode
The SV Dynamo were subject to a variety of sports communities also several sports clubs where targeted performance sports was encouraged. The Dynamo sports clubs were among the most successful sporting clubs in the GDR. The largest sports club in the SV Dynamo was the SC Dynamo Berlin with sections in almost all Olympic sports.
