SV Elversberg

The sports association 07 Elversberg eV, shortly SV Elversberg, is a football club based in the Saarland community Schiffweiler in the district of Neunkirchen.

Due to the promotion of the former coach and interim President Frank Holzer (now Chairman) and the financial support of the company Ursapharm as a sponsor, the club has advanced to third on a regional level to the third league.

History

The club was founded in 1907 as FC Germania Elversberg, 1914 and 1918 resolved refounded as a sports association VfB Elversberg. After the Second World War, all Elversberg sports clubs merged to form sports community Elversberg, from the 1952 split off the current SV (initially under the name SV Elversberg VfB 07).

From 1951 to 1960, and in 1962/ 63, the SV Elversberg belonged to the third-rate amateur league Saarland. About Regional SV dipped the first time in 1980 by promotion to the Oberliga West. By 1987, the Elvers Berger of the highest amateur class belonged to, but never played a major role. In 1994 they rose again to the Oberliga on, after two years in the regional league, where they failed in the first attempt, but the 1998 revival managed. For 15 years Elversberg was an integral part of the Regionalliga West / southwest or south or west.

Prior to the 2007/ 08 season continued Elversberg as a target promotion to the new 3 League, which did not succeed. This had the consequence that Elversberg played in the 2008 /09 season in the new, fourth-rate Regionalliga West as the highest class of Saarland club. In 2009, the club won the Saarland Cup for the first time and met in the first round of the DFB Cup 2009/10 on the SC Freiburg. The SV Elversberg succumbed to the Bundesliga Movers 0-2. In 2010, you could win the Saarland Cup again and met in the first round of the DFB Cup 2010/11 Hannover 96 Surprisingly Elversberg won 5-4 on penalties, after it had been expired after extra time 0-0. The SVE was qualified for the second round, where they again met with the 1st FC Nuremberg in the Bundesliga and a 0:3 subject.

At the end of the 2012/13 season, the sports association was behind Hessen Kassel runner-up of the Regionalliga Southwest, thus securing participation in the promotion round to the 3rd Football League, where they took in two games against the champions of League Bavaria, TSV 1860 München II. The first leg was won 3-2. The scheduled for June 2, 2013 return match was postponed to the June 4, 2013 for is not fit for the place.
