SV Zulte Waregem

The SV Zulte Waregem is a Belgian football club from Waregem West Flanders. He is currently playing in the Jupiler Pro League.

History

The association was created in 2001 from a merger of Zultse VV and KSV Waregem. The first was founded in 1950 as Zulte Sportief and merged in 1971 with SK Zulte. The team played a long time only second-or even third-rate. KSV Waregem Waregem Sportief was founded in 1925 as in 1951 and received the privilege to call himself a royal and entered since then as KSV Wageren ( Dutch: Koninklijke Sportvereniging Waregem ). KSV Waregem played for years in the Belgian first division.

After the merger in 2001, the club uses the stadium of KSV Waregem, the 8,500 spectators bidding Regenboogstadion. In the 2006/2007 season the club played in the UEFA Cup, survived surprisingly the group stage and was eliminated only against Newcastle United.
