Svarog

Svarog is a Slavic god of the sky. He is our Heavenly Father God, creator of the earth, sun and fire, and father of the sun and fertility god Svarožić. Its name comes from the Indo-European root svar (light, radiant sky).

The name of Svarog is mentioned in the Slavonic translation of the Byzantine chronicle of John Malalas, which compares it to the writer in a commentary with the Greek fire god Hephaestus.
