Sven Benken

Sven Benken ( born April 20, 1970) is a former German football player.

Player

Sven Benken began his football career in 1989 in the DDR -Liga at the BSG activist Brieske - Senftenberg. In 1991, the club was grouped in the Oberliga West and Benken played here until 1994. In summer 1994 he changed to the Regionalliga for Energie Cottbus. In the season 1996/97 he went with the Lusatians on to the 2nd Bundesliga. In addition, he reached the DFB Cup final against VfB Stuttgart.

After this successful season Benken moved to the 1st Bundesliga for Werder Bremen. Already on the first match day, an away game at Karlsruher SC, he made his Erstligadebüt. After standing in the first four games of the season on the court, he came in the course of the season only to two other stakes. In the next season, he completed 23 league games. At the end of the season Benken won the DFB Cup with Bremen. He came here in the first round, in the eighth, quarter, and in the semifinals to use.

Shortly after the start of the 1999/2000 season he moved within the league to Hansa Rostock. Benken came on 24 Season Appearances and scored on 17 Round with a 1-0 final score against FC Schalke 04 Bundesliga his first hit. In the following season he came on 22 times and again scored a goal. In the 2001 /02 season he was only ten times used.

Following Benken was a year without a club before he signed in the summer of 2003 the Dresdner SC. Here he remained one year. In 2004 he finally moved to the Brandenburg division of SG blue-yellow foliage village, with the rise in the Brandenburg League in the first year. In the season 2006/ 07 he played 25 times for the Südbrandenburger. and stood in their squad until 2009.

Currently, he plays in the Altligamannschaft ( UE35 ) of the SG Sielow and has become the team's two-time district champion.

Profession

Since September 2003, Sven Benken runs a soccer school in Cottbus. In February 2005, he acquired the coach - A license.
