Sven Grünberg

Sven Grünberg ( * November 24, 1956 in Tallinn) is an Estonian composer.

Life and work

Sven Grünberg graduated in 1976, the State Music School in Tallinn ( Tallinna Muusikakool ) from. He played as a student in several music ensembles. In January 1974 he founded with Härmo Härm the prog - band measurement, mainly used electronic keyboard instruments and music combined with visual elements. Grünberg used here as the first musician in Estonia a synthesizer and often clashed with the Soviet cultural authorities in conflict. He led the band that was unique in the former Soviet Union, until its breakup in 1976.

Since his youth, Sven Grünberg is strongly influenced by Asian sounds and instruments, mainly from the Tibetan music. He plays his works usually a self. His often long pieces are peaceful and meditative. Although they have an inner tension, but avoid confrontational elements. Green Mountain is currently one of the most famous followers of Buddhism in Estonia and Director of Estonian Buddhism Institute ( Budismi Instituut ).

Sven Grünberg currently lives and works as a freelance composer, studio musician and sound director. He is the author of numerous stage and film music, among other things, " Hukkunud Alpinisti " hotell, Bullfighting and Naksitrallid. He worked closely together with the Estonian film director Olav Neuland ( 1947-2005 ).

Besides Sven Grünberg has been active as music director of numerous projects. Since 1993 he also teaches film and music education in Estonia and Finland.
