Sven Jonasson

Sven Jonasson ( born July 9, 1909 in Borås, † September 17, 1984 in Varberg ) was a Swedish football player and coach. In 2003 he was inducted into the Hall Of Fame of Swedish football.

Career

Club career

Jonasson began his career in his hometown at IK Ymer, before moving to IF Elfsborg, for whom he played in the Allsvenskan. Since its debut on September 11, 1927, he played in 344 consecutive games without interruption, record in the Swedish League. In total he played until his career end 1946 410 top-flight appearances for the club, thereby pass the striker 252 gates, also a record of the league. 1934 and 1936 he was top scorer in 1936, 1939 and 1940 respectively Swedish champion.

1952-1954 he was the coach of its common association in the Allsvenskan.

National

Between 1932 and 1940, Jonasson played 42 internationals for Sweden. He scored 20 goals in the process.

Jonasson was a participant at the World Championships in 1934, failed in Sweden in the quarterfinals to Germany, and 1938, in the first semi-final against Hungary was over and we lost the match for 3rd place with 2:4 against Brazil. He succeeded in attaining a total of three World Cup matches.

Jonasson also took part in the football competition of the 1936 Olympic Games. However, Sweden already retired on the first lap with a 2:3 defeat against Japan.
