Sven-Ove Svensson

Sven -Ove Svensson ( * 1922, † January 1987) was a Swedish football player.

Career

Svensson, who was honored with the nickname "SOS", played for Helsingborgs IF in the Allsvenskan. 1951 debuted the midfielder in the Swedish national team. Three years later he was awarded the Guldbollen as Sweden's Footballer of the Year. Until 1956, he played 31 international matches before his career ended abruptly. A meniscus damage was mishandled so that Svensson could no longer play football. Thus the dream of the World Cup in their own country was over.
