Sven Rydell

Sven Åke Albert " Trollgubben " Rydell ( born January 14, 1905 in Gothenburg, † April 4, 1975 ) was a Swedish football player. He is still with 49 goals Top scorer of the Swedish national team.

Rydell played from 1924 to 1933 for Örgryte IS, with whom he was in 1926 and 1928, the first Allsvenskan - the Swedish championship title at that time was not officially awarded. From 1930 to 1931 he played for the Redbergslids IK known especially for his handball section. In addition, he worked also for Holmen IS. Overall Rydell brought it to 156 goals in the highest Swedish league.

In the Swedish national team striker graduated from 1923-1932 a total of 43 games. He scored 49 goals, corresponding to an average of 1.14 goals per game. In his only major international tournament, the 1924 Olympics, he won the bronze medal with Sweden. With a total of six goals he had in common with the Swiss Max Abegglen behind Pedro Petrone ( eight goals ) leading scorer.

For his achievements Rydell in 1931 awarded the Svenska Dagbladet Gold Medal -. In 2003, he was inducted into the Hall Of Fame SFS.
