Sven Schultze

Sven Schultze ( born July 11, 1978 in Bamberg ) is a German national basketball players.

Life and career

Club career

Sven Schultze learned the game of basketball in the youth of his home club TTL Bamberg. In the 1995/1996 season he played at the age of 17 years for the first time in the first basketball league for Bamberg. He was also equipped with a dual license and played in addition, the 1995/1996 season at TSV Breitengüßbach in the second league.

In summer 1998, he joined the German top team ALBA Berlin with whom he won three league titles in the following years. Re equipped with a dual license, but he played mainly for the cooperation partner TuS Lichterfelde Berlin in the Bundesliga 2, with which he ascended to the 1st Bundesliga in 2000.

From the 2000/2001 season he played exclusively for ALBA Berlin. In summer 2002, moved from Berlin to Bayer Giants Leverkusen, where he hoped for more playing time. And indeed he developed with convincing performances a key player of the team.

As Leverkusen failed to reach the play-offs in the Bundesliga, he received an offer from the surprisingly plagued by injuries Olimpia Milano top team from Serie A. Schultze showed in the Italian play-offs so good performances that his contract was extended.

After spending a year in Italy Schultze joined the 2008/09 season at Olympia Larisa Greece. There he played until February 2009 and then moved back to Italy again and stood in the Play Offs the second division for Casale Monferrato in the field. In October 2009, Schultze signed a contract with the Italian first division club Angelico Biella for the 2009/2010 season, where he remained until January 2010. Shortly thereafter he moved to Carife Ferrara.

For the season 2010/2011 Sven Schultze returned to Germany. He signed with his former club Alba Berlin a contract for two years until the end of the season 2011/2012. There he had already played from 1998 to 2002.

The 2.06 m wide power forward / small forward is very strong draft.

National

Schultze was in February 2000, his debut in the senior team. The jump in the squad for the European Championship in 2001 but he could not. Also convincing performance in the A2 national is not enough for a place in the World Cup team in 2002.

The European Championship 2003, he played while in the German national team, but got little playing time. At the 2005 European Championships in Serbia and Montenegro, it was the first time an integral part of the team and brought with him the silver medal. Also for the Basketball World Championship 2006 in Japan, he was in the squad of the German team.

In August 2008 he took the German national team at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, for which Germany had qualified with the third in the qualifying tournament in Athens.

However, it was announced on 15 June 2010 that Schultze family reasons will not participate in the Basketball World Championship 2010. That would imply, however, no definitive withdrawal from the DBB team, but he said after the European Basketball Championship in 2011 and failed to qualify for the 2012 Olympics.
