Sven Vermant

Sven Vermant ( born April 4, 1973 in Lier ) is a Belgian footballer.

Career

In the club

Vermant began his career at VK Hooikt. In 1989 he moved to KV Mechelen, but returned back already after one season to VK Hooikt. In 1991 he moved back to KV Mechelen and this time stayed there for two years. In 1993 he moved to FC Bruges. With FC Bruges in 1995 he became Belgian champion and 1997 and 1995 and 1996 Belgian Cup winners. For the season 2001 /02 he moved to FC Schalke 04 free transfer with FC Schalke 04 in 2002 he was the DFB Cup winner. From 2005 to 2008 he again played for FC Bruges. In July 2008 he moved to FC Knokke, where he is also assistant coach of the head coach Henk Houwaart simultaneously.

In the National Team

Vermant debuted on 23 August 1995 for the Belgian national football team in a friendly match against Germany. In 2002, he took with Belgium participated in the World Cup and reached the second round here. His last international match Vermant completed on 4 September 2004 in a World Cup qualifier against Lithuania. Overall, he was 18 times the national jersey.
