Svenskt biografiskt lexikon

The Svenskt biografiskt lexicon (SBL ) is the largest general Swedish biography and successor of Svenskt biografiskt hand lexicon. Since 1917, 31 volumes (8,000 products to 25,000 pages) are published by Abelin to Segerstedt. In the first ten volumes ( Abelin to De la Gardie, 1931), both living and dead individuals were recorded, but only after already deceased. The original commercial publishing product was acquired in 1962 by the state. The current work plan ends with Volume 38, to appear, 2015. The SBL and the Svenska Akademiens ordbok are the largest reference online books in Scandinavia.

Since 1 January 2009, the SBL is an autonomous part of the Riksarkivet in Stockholm.
