Svetomir Belić

Svetomir Belić ( Serbian Cyrillic Светомир Белић; born October 2, 1946 in Smederevo ) is a former Yugoslav amateur boxer of Serbian nationality. It was 1971 vice European champion in the light middleweight division and represented Yugoslavia at the Olympic Summer Games 1972.

Boxing career

Belić boxed for Partizan Belgrade and was during his competitive career around 1.75 m tall. It was founded in 1968 Yugoslavian welterweight champion, and in 1970, 1971, 1972, 1975 and 1976 Yugoslavian champion in the light middleweight division. He also won in 1970 and 1971 respectively, the Balkan Championships in light middleweight.

In June 1971 he won the silver medal in the light middleweight at the 19th European Championships in Madrid. He defeated the Spaniards while Moisés Fajardo (3:2), the Bulgarians Krastyo Denchev ( Ko) and Poland Wieslaw Rudkowski ( Ko), before he only lost in the final Valeri Tregubow from the Soviet Union ( 0:5 ).

In 1972 he participated in the Light Middleweight part in the Summer Olympic Games in Munich, where, however, he already defeated in the first round, which was launched in the Netherlands Anthony Richardson almost 2:3. Even with the 21 European Championships 1975 in Katowice, he still lost in the preliminaries against Victor Savchenko from the Soviet Union ( 0:5 ).
