Swabian Turkey

The Swabian Turkey is the largest German -speaking enclave in what is now Hungary. It includes the German settlement area in the southern part of the Danube -Drava - plate in Tolna ( Tolna ), Baranya ( Baranya ) and Somogy ( Somogy ).

After the embossed by the Turks Ottoman rule in the 16th and 17th century, the area next to Slovak, Croatian and Serbian colonists and the Palatinate, Franconia, Hesse, Wester forests, Fuldaern, East Franconia and Bavaria was also populated with Swabia. So the name of Swabian Turkey was established.

The culture of the German ethnic group in the region was recorded with their musical tradition since 1930, among others, Karl Horak ( 1910-1992 ), while Rudolf Hartmann was dedicated to the popular drama traditions.
