Swale (geographic feature)

A trench is an underground, rarely also partially aboveground buffer to accommodate initiated rainwater and seep. For this purpose a trench with gravel or other contact erosion sure graded materials is required.

Structure and suitability

Trenches are characterized by good retention effect and due to its underground location by small area requirement of. However, they offer no maintenance option and subject to the possibility of clogging. Before the cable into the trench, therefore, should be a sand trap (also solid collector ) must be installed to prevent settling of dirt, stones, gravel and similar materials in the Rigolenporen. An entry would lead eventually to fill the trench with impermeable material and then offer them no proper rain water drainage more. Underground Rohrrigolen or Rigolenquader can be installed easily under paved roads and navigable areas.
