Swan (chair)

The Swan ( Svanen ), also known as The Swan is a 1958 developed by Danish architect and designer Arne Jacobsen chair. It was designed in the form, as well as the chair model egg, for the foyer of the SAS Royal Hotel, his last work of art. To date, the swan is produced by the furniture manufacturer Fritz Hansen.

A manufactured from die-cast aluminum star-shaped foot is the basis for the rotating chair.

As reference material leather and fabric is used. In the same year a 144 cm wide bed was developed on a metal shaker base in the style of the chair.

The chair is in the world's collections of design museums, contain and exhibited, among others, at the Design Museum Danmark in Copenhagen, the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne. He is considered a design classic. Early originals are traded at art auctions.
