Sway (Rapper)
Sway ( born September 5, 1982 in London, real name Derek Andrew Safo ), also DaSafo Sway, is a British rapper of Ghanaian descent.
Career
Sway grew up in North London and started with 15, for other rappers to create beats and take home their own mixtapes. 2005 found his self-published recordings This Is My Promo Vol 1 and Vol.2 their way to pirate radio stations and eventually to the BBC station 1Xtra. Without a record deal and proper publication, he received a surprise at the MOBO Awards 2005 the award for best hip-hop artist.
Despite the following offers from record companies, the rapper decided to independent release of his first proper album This Is My Demo. With Derek Little it contained a Top 40 hit, but was otherwise reluctant successful.
Then he signed with the label Konvict of the U.S. musician Akon. There appeared in 2008 his signature LP, which was hardly more successful than its predecessor. Three singles landed in the UK Top 75
