The Swedbank Stadion is a football stadium in Malmo, Sweden. It was opened on 13 April 2009 with the match against Malmö FF Örgryte IS.

Background

With the construction of the stadium began on November 6, 2007. Completion was in April 2009. The stadium has a capacity of 21,000 seats at international games on. For national games it is for 24,000 visitors - including 18,000 seats and 6,000 standing places - allowed. It is the home of Malmö FF, one of the most renowned Swedish football clubs. The building has a length of 215 meters, a width of 150 meters and a height of 27 meters.

The stadium, which includes a restaurant for 2,000 people, has a VIP box for 60 people and 53 boxes for each twelve people. In addition, club chairs are offered in three categories on both sides where also food and drinks are served. Furthermore, it offers 100 disabled people with their accompanying persons. It has 330 men's toilets and urinals, 120 Ladies toilets and six toilets for wheelchair users.

In addition to football, the stadium is used as well for conventions, conferences, exhibitions and concerts.

The name of the new stadium is due to the fact that Malmö FF has sold the naming rights to the Swedbank on July 12, 2007. Swedbank and the city of Malmö are also the investors of the new stadium. The total investment amounts to SEK 695 million (that is approximately € 76.14 million ).
