The Swedish U20 national ice hockey team represents the Swedish Ice Hockey Association in the U20 Junior - level performance in international competitions. It was 1981 and 2012 world champion in their age class.

History

The Swedish U20 national hockey team was founded in 1974 on the occasion of the first unofficial host a World Youth Championship. Up to and including 1998, the U20 national team covered the entire range from juniors at the World Championships, while the U19 national team took part in the Junior European Championships. Since the introduction of the U18 World Cup 1999 U-20 National Team Sweden represents only the power stage of the U20 Junior World Championships.

The Swedish U20 national team is among the strongest in the world and is in the time medals table after the U20 World Cup in 2014 to fifth with two world championship titles, ten silver and five bronze medals. After 1975, in the second (still unofficial ) World Championship the first bronze medal was earned, won the first time in 1978 Sweden silver behind the Soviet Union. Another three years later, were the Tre Kronors in which the later NHL player Jan Erixon, Patrik Sundström, Peter Sundström and Michael Thelvén were on the ice, at the Junior World Championships in 1981 for the first time win the title. It was not until over 30 years later could repeat this success at the U20 World Cup in 2012, the Swedish offspring.
