Swedish general election, 1908

In September 1908 election to the Second Chamber of the Swedish Parliament took place.

After the electoral reform of 1907 was the first time a universal male suffrage (with certain restrictions) for the Second Chamber of Parliament. However, the right to vote was not the same, that is, the voice of a man with a high income or assets was more influential than that of a worker.

Arvid Lindman, which formed a moderately conservative government, like its predecessors Christian Lundeberg and Karl Staaff tried to resolve the suffrage issue. The new King Gustav V (reigned from 1907 ) supported the gradual democratization through electoral reforms.

The Social Democrats were able to increase their number of seats from 17 to 33.

The number of seats for the Conservatives fell to 84

The Liberals had 109 seats.
