Swedish general election, 1928

The election to the Second Chamber of the Swedish Parliament took place on 15 September 1928 in Gothenburg and several other cities held on 21 September in Stockholm and in between on 16 September in the rest of the country.

During the election campaign the Socialists were attacked hard, especially because of proposals for more stringent estate tax from the bourgeois parties. They were also accused of a close to communism.

The election results revealed losses of the Social Democratic Party and profits for the general electorate covenant which achieved the best result of his choice of party history with 29.4%. Thereupon King Gustav V appointed the chairman Arvid Lindman on October 1, 1928 the Prime Minister. However, he was only able to form a minority government because the Liberal Party and the Liberal People's Party rejected a government involvement.
