Swedish Ice Hockey Association

The Ishockeyförbundet Svenska ( Swedish German Ice Hockey Federation ) is the national hockey association of Sweden based in Johanneshov, a district of Söderort in the Stockholm municipality. In its 22 district branches and 698 member clubs 81,000 members are active, of which 61 538 players and referees are in possession of a license ( as of 2012).

Internationally, the Swedish national ice hockey team presented the association. In addition to the sport of ice hockey in Sweden, the association also takes care of inline hockey.

History

On November 17, 1922, the Association was founded at a meeting in the premises of the Swedish Football Association in Stockholm. Sweden was two years a member of the IIHF, the sport of ice hockey was built until 1922 in the Football Association, who then transferred the membership to the new Hockey Association.
