Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency

Sida ( Styrelsen promote internationellt utvecklingssamarbete ) is the Swedish National Agency for International Development Cooperation, based in Stockholm. 2005 approximately 770 employees worked at the authority, of which about 170 abroad.

Sida's budget in 2005 amounted to about SEK 14 billion (~ EUR 1.5 billion), equivalent to about 60 % of the Swedish contribution to development aid. Sida has a cooperation with 120 countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America and Eastern Europe. About 5,500 bets are over 1,400 different organizations, companies and other partners annually funded and implemented.

Sida is assigned to the State Department, with its feedstocks is a close cooperation. Director of the Authority was to May 2010 Anders Nordström, former Director General of the World Health Organization. In July 2010, Mats Sjöstrand has been appointed as the new Director-General.
