Swedish National Heritage Board

Riksantikvarieämbetet ( Reich antiquarian Office) is the Swedish name for the National Heritage Board. There currently is headquartered in Stockholm, but a relocation to Gotland planned. At the Central Office about 400 employees.

The tasks of the National Board for historic preservation are the protection, documentation and maintenance of culturally significant objects, places and environments. This includes links for the protection of monuments, research and research information, care and preservation, and archaeological investigations.

The National Heritage Board is assigned to the Ministry of Culture.
