The Swedish Warmblood is a breed of horse, which goes back to an intersection of Andalusian, Berber, Frisians, Hanoverian, Trakehner, English Thoroughbreds and Arabs. Originally bred as above average cavalry horse, it is now a modern sport horse, especially for dressage, but also for show jumping, versatility and driving appropriate.

Exterior

The conformation of Swedish Warmblood is characterized by a noble head, a strong back, a nicely shaped neck and correct limbs with clear healthy joints and hooves. This Warmblood also has a strong shoulder with good freedom of movement, but often also a bit too short croup. The breed exists in all colors, but mostly brown and red fox. The horses are 160-170 cm tall.

Interior

The Swedish Warmblood is considered intelligent, friendly, willing and brave.

Breeding history

The Swedish Warmblood has its origins in the 17th century. Even then, Oriental, Spanish and Friesian stallions were crossed with local breeding horses. Also, Trakehner, Hanoverian, Arabs and English thoroughbreds were built mainly on the studs Stromholm and Flyinge.

Today, the Swedish Warmblood is exported around the world.
