Sweet Baby James

Sweet Baby James is the title of an album by James Taylor.

History

James Taylor in 1968 was returned from the UK to the USA and had released his debut album in the same year. In 1969 he had a number of successful live performances after treatment of his drug addiction. After the Newport Folk Festival, he broke both hands in a motorcycle accident and could not occur for several months. After recovering, he went in late 1969 into the recording studio and recorded the songs for the album Sweet Baby James. In February 1970, the album came on the market. As a single Warner released the song Fire and Rain, who came up to third place on the Billboard charts. James Taylor had his first hit with it. The album Sweet Baby James also came up on third place in the Popalbumcharts. The music magazine Rolling Stone chose the album in the list of the 500 best albums of all time at number 104, and the song Fire and Rain in the list of the best 500 songs of all time. The song Steamroller Blues was covered by Elvis Presley and published as in 1973 as a single. The recording for the single is a live recording from the show Aloha from Hawaii. Presley's version was included in the compilation The Essential Elvis Presley 2007 even.
