The Sweetwater River is a river in the south of San Diego in the state of California. It rises in the Cuyamaca Mountains and flows by 88 km (55 mi) in the San Diego Bay. In the course of the river there are two reservoirs. The Loveland Lake is located 8 km south of the town of Alpine. The Loveland Dam was completed in 1945 and the reservoir has a storage capacity of 31 million m³. The Sweetwater Reservoir is located 14 km southeast of San Diego. The Sweetwater Dam has a storage capacity of 35 million cubic meters and was completed in 1888. He was taken by the American Society of Civil Engineers in the List of Historic Civil Engineering Landmarks in 2005.
