Świnoujście LNG terminal

The LNG terminal is a Świnoujście is under construction plant for importing liquefied natural gas in Świnoujście ( Swinoujscie ).

Planning and construction

The construction was decided in 2009 with the Act on an LNG terminal. The project was started by the PGNiG and is now being continued by the Polskie LNG. The construction costs have risen to € 750 million, of which € 134 million grant from the EU. The facilities have been planned by SNC Lavalin, 2011, work began. However, these are in arrears, so that a timely opening in June 2014 no longer seems attainable. The terminal is for regasification of up to 5 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year, with the possibility of increasing the capacity up to 7.5 billion cubic meters, is designed. It will be built two tanks of 160,000 m³. Due to the low temperature of the Baltic Sea, this can not be used to re- evaporation of the liquefied gas. Instead SCV evaporator ( by English submerged combustion vaporiser ) is used in which the liquefied gas in the water is from a gas burner, which uses about 1.4% of the gas is heated.

Port expansion

For the new Outer Harbour, with 216,000 m³ tank volume and a length of 315 m allows the ships of the Q- Flex class to create, the fairway up to 14.5 m depth, and built a new breakwater

Gas supplies

With the Qatargas from Qatar a contract for the supply of a million tons liquefied natural gas was concluded at approximately € 550 million per year from 2014 to 2034, with the first delivery from June to December to be held in 2014. Excess imported gas will be exported via the Baltic Pipe line to Denmark.
