Swiss Cottage (Metropolitan line) tube station

Swiss Cottage is a closed London Underground station on the Metropolitan Line. It belongs to a group of three disused stations that lay between today's stations Baker Street and Finchley Road. The other two are Lord's and Marlborough Road.

The station was opened on 13 April 1868 as the terminus of the line from Baker Street from. The station building was located at the junction of Finchley Road and Avenue Road. On June 30, 1879, the extension of the line to Willesden Green was.

To accelerate the Metropolitan Line station, however, was abandoned on August 17, 1940 after (some of the Jubilee line today ) had been opened already on November 20, 1939, the same station of the Stanmore branch of the Bakerloo Line.
