Swissmem

Swissmem is the Association of Swiss mechanical and electrical engineering industries (MEM industries). The MEM industry has approximately 330,000 employees, the largest industrial employer in Switzerland and is a significant factor in business and politics represents the approximately 1,000 Swissmem member firms exported in 2013 goods to the value of CHF 65 billion.

History

Swissmem emerged ( Swiss Association of Machinery Manufacturers ) from the two associations ASM ( Association of Swiss machinery industry) and VSM. Since 1999, the two associations occur under the common name Swissmem. In early 2007, the VSM has been renamed Swissmem and took over all the activities of the ASM, except those related to the collective labor agreement in the industry.

While Swissmem the FDP stands close and collective agreements negotiated, Swissmechanic is close to the SVP and rejects collective agreements.

Swissmem represents the interests of the MEM industry towards politics, national and international organizations, workers' representatives and the general public and also acts as a service center for the MEM industries. As Arbeitgebervertrerin Swissmem trades unions from the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement ( CBA ) for the MEM industry. The GAV of the MEM industry has traditionally been the way for many GAV Switzerland and has evolved since 1937 agreed " peace agreement " to the current high level.

Organization

Swissmem presided since November 2010 by Hans Hess. From 1999 until his election to the Federal Council was Johann Schneider- Ammann President of Swissmem. In the past it has happened more than once that important functionaries of the Swissmem or the ASM or VSM have risen to more influential positions in the Swiss Employers' Association (Peter Hasler, Thomas Daum ).

Director of Swissmem is Peter Dietrich.
