Switzerland–United States relations

The American- Swiss relations are characterized by the very different size of the two countries.

Diplomatic relations

The U.S. has maintained since 1853 a diplomatic mission in Switzerland, Switzerland since 1882 in the USA. Since the 1820s there Consular Relations.

Switzerland is a protecting power for the bilateral relations between the United States and Cuba, and since the hostage crisis in Tehran for U.S. interests in Iran.

The American ambassador in Bern is also accredited to the Principality of Liechtenstein since 1997 ( Madeleine M. Kunin ).
