Swoosh

The Swoosh is the symbol of the shoe and sporting goods manufacturer Nike. He is one of the most famous trademarks in the world and is thus in line with the Walt Disney signature and the Coca -Cola logo. Many Americans wear it as a tattoo for a long time it was the most popular tattoo symbol in America.

The swoosh was designed in 1971 by graphic design student Carolyn Davidson and - somewhat later than the current brand name "Nike" - introduced as a logo. Initially equipped with the word "Nike " swoosh is now alone as a company logo. Nike paid at that time only 35 U.S. dollars for the now world- famous logo, put on the market breakthrough but in 1983 with a share package of unknown size after.

In the Grafik-/Designbranche the swoosh is also discussed in the specialized use of language: it is therefore generally refers to geometric shapes such as circles or curved lines, which are intended to give the impression of movement or speed, for example, in the background of a composition.
